Overview
The module aims to equip the learner with knowledge and skills to support healthcare professionals in performing clinical tests and procedures. It also introduces the appropriate healthcare care ethics in their daily course of work.
Learning Objectives
- Communicate effectively using appropriate medical terminologies related to the basic human anatomy and physiology; and communicate with patients on the procedural requirements.
- Prepare patients for measurement and documentation of vital signs, follow by reporting any of abnormal vital signs according to the organisation procedures and guidelines.
- Select the appropriate specimen containers and equipment for various clinical laboratory tests and assist in preparing, checking, collecting or despatching of specimens in accordance to organizational procedural guidelines
- Apply healthcare ethics when assisting patients for physical examination/ minor procedures and reinstate equipment post procedures in accordance to organizational policy.

- Basic medical terminologies
- Basic human anatomy and physiology terminologies
- Types of clinical laboratory services
- Organisational procedures relating to collection of specimens for laboratory testing
- Organisational procedures in measuring and reporting of vital signs and patients’ management on vital signs taking, measuring and reports
- Organisational procedures for preparing patients for physical examination and minor procedures
- Types of equipment needed for clinical tests and procedures
- Health care ethics applicable for work practices.

Entry Requirements
- Obtained at least a C6 pass at N-Level in any 1 subject or equivalent; OR
- Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 4 (Speaking, Listening, Reading & Numeracy) and Level 3 (Writing)
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a formal recognition through the award of a Statement(s) of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore.

The training is delivered via online learning (asynchronous & synchronous), classroom sessions and clinical attachment.
Total: 9.5 days
- Day 1: Asynchronous/Synchronous e-learning (8 hours)
- Day 2, 3, 4 & 5: Classroom training (32 hours)
- Day 6: Assessment (2 hours)
- Clinical Assessment: 4.5 Days (36 hours)
