Overview
This course is targeted at learners who are working in the healthcare industry. There is a need to upskill healthcare workers for career progression or developing enhanced skills to take on higher roles in their job scope. The module on wound care and performing simple wound dressing is an identified competency to develop staff new capabilities to take on jobs in growth areas or redesigned job roles.
This course will equip participants with fundamental knowledge and skills in basic wound management.
Course Objectives
- Describe the basic anatomy and physiology of the integumentary system
- Discuss the types and classification of wounds
- Explain the principles of wound healing and the factors which affect its healing process
- Select appropriate wound products for simple wound dressing
- Perform simple wound dressing with aseptic techniques.
- Perform stoma care and assist drainage of pouch.

- Day 1: 9 am to 1 pm (Synchronous E-Learning via Zoom)
- Day 2: 9 am to 6 pm (Face-to-face classroom training)
- Day 3: 9 am to 1 pm (Face-to-face classroom training)
- Day 3: 2 pm to 6 pm (Face-to-face assessment, 1 hour per trainee)
