Overview
This module equips the potential healthcare support worker with the fundamental skills and knowledge to participate in Emergency Response and Crisis Management plans at the workplace. The module provides a supporting role in the event of an emergency or crisis in a workplace.
Learning Objectives
- Differentiate the types of Emergencies relevant to the industry and utilisation of available resources to support the emergencies.
- Recognise their respective roles and responsibilities in the emergency response and/or crisis management plan including escalate/deescalate of emergencies accordingly.
- Participate in organisation’s emergency response and/or crises control drills/exercises, document and report incidents according to organisational procedures.
Course Outline
- Emergency response and crisis management plans relevant to the organisation
- Emergency scenarios relevant to the industry
- Resources required for responding to emergency scenarios
- Organisation’s emergency response and crisis management plans and procedures
- Individual’s role and responsibilities in designated groups or stations in emergency response and/or crisis management plans
- De-escalation processes for emergency and crisis situations
- Respond to emergency or crisis situations in accordance with the emergency response and/or crisis management plans
- Alert supervisors of potential escalation of emergency and/or crisis situations
- Assist in the conduct of emergency or crisis response drills in accordance with the emergency response and/or crisis management plans
- Participate in the organisation’s emergency and/or crisis control exercises
- Document incidents according to organisational procedures
- Report incidents according to organisational procedures
Target Audience
- Existing healthcare workers
Entry Requirements
- Obtained at least a C6 pass at N-Level in any 1 subject or equivalent; OR
- Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 4 (Speaking, Listening, Reading & Numeracy) and Level 3 (Writing)
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a formal recognition through the award of a Statement(s) of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore.

- Day 1 & 2: Classroom training (16 hours)

SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) is providing course fee funding to the healthcare in-service staff.
- Up to 70% course fee subsidy for Singaporean aged 21-39 & SPR 21 years and above.
- Up to 90% course fee subsidy for Singaporean aged 40 & above.
- Up to 90% course fee subsidy for all staff (Singaporean & SPR) under the Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS) for SME employers.
