Stay-in Shared Care Services (SCS) Training

Overview

Singapore’s population is ageing rapidly, and family sizes are shrinking. As a result, more seniors are projected to live alone, raising concerns about social isolation and its impact on health, and faster onset of frailty. To address this challenge, the Ministry of Health (MOH) with support of MOM and AIC is introducing a sandbox to pilot for Stay-In Shared Care Services.

This model places a trained migrant care worker within a residential unit or development to provide “twenty-four seven “support to a small group of seniors. The primary goal is to enable seniors to age confidently in their own homes and communities. This involves providing round-the-clock assistance for activities of daily living (ADLs), medication support, health monitoring, etc. Additionally, it aims to offer companionship and timely intervention in case of emergencies, thereby minimizing the risks associated with seniors living alone.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  1. Provide safe and person-centred care to support seniors ageing independently within the community.
  2. Assist seniors with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), nutrition, mobility, and fall prevention practices.
