Overview

This course equips caregivers with the expertise needed to facilitate the retraining of the elderly in basic activities of daily living (BADL) within a home setting. Through hands-on modules focusing on basic daily living skills, factors influencing retraining in home settings, and utilization of assistive devices, attendees will develop proficiency in employing these tools to aid elderly individuals.

Course Objectives

  1. Recognize and differentiate between the various types of Basic Activities of Daily Living (BADL) pertinent to the elderly.
  2. Pinpoint the factors related to the necessity for BADL retraining in the context of elderly care within a home setting.
  3. Understand the specific functions, benefits, and objectives of assistive tools and equipment designed to support elderly individuals with BADL retraining at home.
  4. Exhibit hands-on proficiency in using assistive devices and equipment to facilitate BADL retraining for elderly individuals in the home environment.

Certification

Upon completion of the course, the participants will be awarded the Certificate of Completion by HMI Institute.

Caregiver Training Grant Claimable
Eligible care recipients will receive a $200 annual subsidy (from April to March the following year) that can be used by their caregivers (family members or foreign domestic workers) to attend courses to better care for their loved ones.
