Training Approach and Facilities

An experiential-based and student-centered approach is adopted to provide meaningful learning experiences for our trainees.

Training Methodology and Approach

HMI Institute adopts an experiential-based and student-centered approach in our training.

We believe that learning is not only about acquiring technical skills, it is also about learning behaviors that are desirable for work in healthcare settings. Our holistic teaching develops students’ personal effectiveness to function both as an individual and as a team player.

The course delivery or modes of instruction will incorporate theory and practical skills sessions.

To enhance learning outcomes, theory sessions will be conducted via home-based learning, and in-person training will intersperse with discussions, scenario-based, case-study and simulation-based learning.

This is aim to enhance participants’ competency in providing responsive and timely first aid to the sick and injured in emergencies in their place of work.

The assessment methods will be both formative and summative throughout the course duration.

Classroom and Skills
Laboratory Training

Training is conducted in a classroom, skills laboratory and clinical setting to enhance learning outcomes for students. With a focus on experiential and problem based training, students are encouraged to reflect and feedback for the purpose of continuous learning and improvement. Also, to cater to adult learners, HMI Institute emphasizes skills-based assessments.

Clinical
Attachment

To increase industry relevance, support hands-on training and facilitate transfer of skills to the workplace, HMI Institute works closely with industry partners to organize clinical attachments for students enrolled in all full-qualification courses.

Students will be given the opportunity to work with healthcare staff at a relevant organization such as a hospital, nursing home or clinic, as well as to practice their skills learnt and improve their competence and confidence.
